Versatile artist who made medaillons, portraitbusts, decorative sculpture for architectural designs, and sculptures in ivory.
He is well-known for his sculptures of animals where he demonstrates a perfect anatomical knowledge. For example The cameldriver (1900), Two curly-headed pelicans on a shipswreck(1905), Two vultures on an elefantshead(1905), all of witch we can find in the Antwerp Zoo.
In 1905 he designed the Mérode statue at de Grote Steenweg Berchem/Antwerp.
From 1905 until 1935 he was teacher at the Académie of Antwerp. From 1899 he lived in Berchem, Gulden Vlieslaan. After the death of his two daughters, the furniture of his atelier was sold by Het Veilinghuis Bernaerts.
